Celebrating World Oceans Day 2024: Our Esteemed Hosts and Intern Researchers


Join us on June 8, 2024, for a special webinar hosted by the Maritime Research Centre (MRC) to celebrate World Oceans Day. Our distinguished hosts, Dr. (Cdr) Arnab Das, Founder and Director of MRC, Pune, along with Deputy Director Shridhar Prabhuraman and Nishtha Vishwakarma, Communication and Advocacy Lead at MRC, will lead the event. The highlight of the webinar will be the presentation of research work by 10 talented MRC interns, who will share their innovative projects and insights on Underwater Domain Awareness (UDA) and its crucial role in promoting safe, secure, and sustainable maritime development.

As part of our World Oceans Day 2024 celebrations, the MRC internal team will provide an in-depth look at the vital work conducted behind the scenes. This session will showcase the extensive efforts and dedication of MRC team members as they present their contributions to advancing the UDA framework. Learn about the collaborative processes and innovative solutions driving maritime governance and supporting coastal communities through the Digital Ocean construct. This is an excellent opportunity to understand how MRC operates and the impactful work done by our team.

RAB Members and Special Guests Feedback Session

In the concluding segment of our World Oceans Day 2024 event, MRC’s Research Advisory Board (RAB) members and special guests will provide valuable feedback on the work being done by MRC. This session will bring together decision-makers, domain experts, and dignitaries committed to ocean conservation and sustainable maritime practices. Their insights and critiques will be instrumental in guiding the future direction of MRC’s initiatives and enhancing our collective efforts in promoting Underwater Domain Awareness (UDA) and maritime governance.

UDA Framework

The figure gives a comprehensive way forward for the stakeholders to engage and interact. It will enable more focused approach and well defined interactive framework. Multi-disciplinary and multifunctional entities can interact and contribute, to seamlessly synergize their efforts towards a larger goal. The proposed UDA framework encourages pooling of resources and synergizing of efforts across the stakeholders towards safe, secure, sustainable growth for all.
